However, they had an extra special deal at the store for the live Dungeness crabs at only $2.99 with the dead ones on the side priced at $1.99. I correctly chose the live ones and they tasted great after steaming. Well, Trent, you can head back and pick up some more live ones. Not a hard mistake to rectify! As I like to put it, you'll be "averaging up" your cost basis slightly but "averaging up" your taste basis significantly. Happy New Year! Mexican markets, for example, can be a great source for pork and various types of organ meat. Of course, as you note, it is crucial to inspect the goods and not give into temptation when a sale is simply too good to be true! Ethnic markets can be great places to not only find bargains, but unusual items that either can’t be found at normal stores, or that cost a lot more at “gourmet” markets.
