Philadelphia Shows It Can Be the City of Brotherly Love
Philadelphia… “The City of Brotherly Love”? Now I can joke about this because I married a Philly girl and spend a large portion of my time in and around that city. And I will have to say, it’s not the friendliest town in the country. It’s not the worst, but I wouldn’t put it up in my top five. Sorry to all my Philly friends but I think most will agree.
But a story just came out that may prove me wrong. A young couple came into one of the many Philly diners (and they do have some great diners) and secretly paid the bill for some other customers as a surprise holiday gift. They told the waitress to wait until after they left to tell them, “Merry Christmas, someone paid your bill”. Rather than just accepting the gift, those customers gifted it forward and paid for some other customer’s tab. According the waitresses, this continued for hours and brought tears to their eyes as they witnessed such generosity. What a heart-warming holiday story! So I had to take a break from thinking and writing about grocery shopping to pass on this holiday spirit. Watch the video and the next time your out for a meal, consider starting a gifting chain yourself!
