As one of countless new technology companies being formed every year, we are extremely proud to be recognized as a finalist in the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 2009 Emerging Technology Awards.  We are one of two finalists in the search category.  We are looking forward to the awards event being held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View on December 3rd.

We appreciate that we are being recognized for the vision of our site to help people to eat healthier and shop smarter.  To achieve this goal, we strive to help our members to be smarter shoppers.  Our mission therefore, is to educate, inform and most importantly, provide a platform for social collaboration amongst our members.

SmartShopIt.com enables our members to search for product information, review our blog, compare products (using nutritional facts, price and value) and to find the best buy (Smart Buy) prices so they know they are paying a good price for their products.  In addition, we have and are continuing to build social collaboration tools to enable members to rate and review products and retailers, share shopping tips and  post Smart Buy prices they find themselves.  The site also enables blogger members to post articles to the site to add to the informative content already found on SmartShopIt.com.

The site has shopping tools such as grocery lists, favorites, Smart Buy alerts and coupons to help our members to be more effective consumers.  And all of this is free to join! As the site and its membership continues to grow, this will become a premier site to help educate people on how to shop more effectively, buy healthy products and to save money.
